What is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy?

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach rooted in the understanding that our unconscious mind, past experiences, and early relationships significantly influence our current behaviour and emotional state. This form of therapy delves into these underlying factors, helping individuals gain deep insights into their emotional patterns and unresolved conflicts. By bringing these hidden aspects to conscious awareness, clients can achieve greater self-awareness and emotional freedom, leading to healthier relationships and improved overall well-being.

How therapy can help

As human beings we have natural and healthy needs, to feel seen, understood, valued, and included. When these needs go unmet, either in childhood or as adults, it can cause deep psychological wounds, leading to a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and relational challenges.

The benefits of psychodynamic psychotherapy can be profound. By unraveling unconscious patterns, we can unlock a deeper understanding of your experiences, leading to lasting positive change. This therapeutic approach equips you with valuable coping mechanisms, enriches your interpersonal relationships, and facilitates personal growth.

What to expect

Thinking about change can be daunting, even when it’s needed. In our therapy sessions, I aim to create a safe, collaborative space where we can gently explore and question the unconscious habits holding you back. My approach is non-judgmental and compassionate, mindful of experiences of prejudice and discrimination. In this supportive environment, trust, healing, and insight can flourish, empowering long term change.

Mindful Offerings

Mindfulness is the practice of fully engaging with the present moment, acknowledging and accepting your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations without judgment. It’s a powerful tool that can help reduce stress, enhance emotional well-being, and improve mental clarity.

As a qualified Mindfulness Teacher with a Post Graduate Diploma from Exeter University, I bring a wealth of experience and passion to my practice. Since earning my diploma, I have had the privilege of teaching mindfulness in diverse settings, from schools where I've guided both staff and pupils, to local authorities and businesses.

My expertise lies in creating bespoke mindfulness packages tailored to meet the unique needs of each organization or individual, whether through introductory sessions or comprehensive course intensives. Additionally, I have successfully led group and individual 8-week mindfulness programs grounded in the gold standard Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) approaches.

If you’re interested in developing mindfulness skills or introducing mindfulness to your team or organization, I’d be delighted to help you on this transformative journey. Get in touch to discover how we can work together to cultivate mindfulness, enhance well-being, and create a more balanced and fulfilling experience.
